I recently had the pleasure of trying the fish and chips at Mariners Takeaway. The dish was an absolute delight from start to finish. The fish was freshly cooked to perfection, with a satisfying crunch in every bite. The seasoning was just right, enhancing the flavor without overpowering the natural taste of the fish.

What truly set this experience apart was the impressive selection of homemade condiments. The Tartar sauce was creamy and tangy, complementing the fish wonderfully. The coleslaw added a refreshing and crisp contrast to the hearty meal. The attention to detail in providing these accompaniments truly elevated the entire meal.

Overall, my visit to Mariners Takeaway for their fish and chips left me thoroughly satisfied. The takeaway also has a nice selection of magazines and newspapers to read while you wait. On this occasion there were even free locally picked apples!

"It’s so rare to find a place that takes gluten free food preparation and cooking so seriously. So many times We go into restaurants with GF options only to find they’ve contaminated their cooking area or don’t have the ingredients. Here, the GF implements and cooking areas are clearly separated and the ‘fresh off the boat’ white board had lots of GF options. The fish and chips were delicious too! Thank you so much for taking this condition seriously and allowing sufferers to enjoy the same food that non sufferers can. Well done Mariners Takeaway!"

"Right. I'm 69 years old and have eaten a lot of fish and chips in my time! I have just finished the best example I have ever eaten. The haddock and chips, mushy peas and curry sauce were all significantly better than the local alternatives, and they seem to have developed a cooking system that doesn't result in the heavy, greasy product that normally leaves me reaching for the Gaviscon! The fish batter is not that aerated, oil filled stuff we are normally fobbed off with to make the fish portion look bigger, it just does the job of protecting the fish. Wonderful. Also the chips actually taste of potatoes, the home made mushy peas were really good, and without the usual artificial fluorescent green look. Awesome curry sauce as well. I don't normally do reviews but I have taken the trouble to log in and post this review, because it was so good! Brilliant job, Thank you”

"I've been visiting Mariners for years now and there are no other chip shops that can touch it as far as I'm concerned. The consistency of quality is remarkable, I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal there once. The chips are absolutely lovely, the fish is really flavoursome and the batter crispy and also full of flavour. These are not oily or greasy at all. The salads are also superb should you prefer that instead. All the staff are polite and friendly even when they are busy which they usually are. You will not find better Fish and chips anywhere!"
